The Music Department will host the Nelson Mandela University Symphony Orchestra on Sunday, 29 October 2017 @ 15:00 called "The Grand Finale” at the Feather Market Centre.

The symphony orchestra, under the baton of Grant Snyman (final year MMus student), will present an exciting programme including works by such as Verdi’s Rigoletto, von Weber famous overture “Der Freischutz” as well as works by Dukas and Respighi. The first half will conclude with the Tuba Concerto by Daniel Leo Simpson and performed by fourth year BMus student, Tiago Vital.

The orchestra will also be joint on stage by the nationally acclaimed Eastern Cape Children's Choir (ECCC) in the performance of "The Selfish Giant," composed by leading South African composer, Peter Louis van Dijk.

The concert has been greatly supported by the Nelson Mandela University Department of Music, the SAMRO Foundation and Concert SA.

Tickets are R 80.00 for adults and R 50.00 for pensioners/scholars/students and are available through presold bookings at Bird Street Campus or at the door on the day of the concert.
